Restoration

Jaguar XKs are difficult cars to restore properly. There is normally substantial corrosion and as bodywork was hand finished at the factory there are considerable variations from car to car. Skilled panel work and plenty of XK experience are required to achieve the correct line and panel fit. Over the years we have learnt that partial restorations are seldom satisfactory.

There is no substitute for a complete “nut and bolt” restoration. We start by completely stripping the XK to a bare shell and chassis. The chassis is then shot blasted and every area of corrosion is removed and repaired. We then “hot zinc spray” the chassis to offer long lasting protection from rust and finally the chassis is painted back.

The body is also shot blasted, all corroded areas are removed and new panels are fitted where necessary. When the car is painted we ensure we paint every area, even in the panel gaps, where the factory used to miss ensuring that our XKs have lasting protection from the elements even in the places that can’t be seen.

Beyond this point our restorations are carried out to the customers exact specification and we encourage our customers to come to the showroom and workshop to see what’s possible and discuss their options with our staff. Our customers have control over every aspect of the finished car from paint and trim colours, to upgrades for modern motoring, to race or rally specification modifications.
